Adventures of Philip Marlowe, Detektivserie (1947-1951). Radioadaption (NBC: Milton Geiger / CBS: Gene Levitt, Robert Mitchell, Mel Dinelli und Kathleen Hite) für die von Novellist Raymond Chandler geschaffene Figur Philip Marlowe (1939). Erstmals am 11-06-1945 im Lux Radio Theater otr_lux für Promotion der Verfilmung Murder My Sweet on Air. Jim Fonda produziert 1947 erste Serie (14 Episoden) für NBC als Sommerersatz von Bob Hope otr_bhs. Norman Macdonnell produziert für CBS eigene Adaptionen (114 Episoden) von 1949-1951. Der abgebrühte Privatdetektiv Philip Marlowe (NBC: Van Heflin; Auftritte im Lux Radio Theater [s.o.] und Suspense otr_suspense / CBS: Gerald Mohr (Bild); Auftritte in Jungle Jim otr_jungle, The New Adventures of Nero Wolfe otr_nero, The Whistler otr_whistler und Damon Runyon Theatre otr_damon) bewegt sich als Einzelkämpfer durch die zwielichtigen Milieus von Los Angeles und löst zahlreiche Kriminalfälle. In der CBS-Serie tauchen zwischen 26-09-1948 bis 29-09-1950 / 07-07-1951 bis 15-09-1951 in Nebenrollen Jeff Corey, Howard McNear, Parley Baer, Lawrence Dobkin, Virginia Gregg, Gloria Blondell und Lou Krugman auf. Wendell Niles (NBC) und Roy Rowan (CBS) präsentieren die von Lyn Murray (NBC) / Richard Aurandt (CBS) vertonte Serie. Format-Erfolg veranlasste CBS die Detektivserie Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar otr_truly zu beauftragen. BBC Radio 4 produzierte Sendungen zwischen 1977-1988 und 2011. (sl)
